Just home from a weeks holiday staying in the Farm House. We could easily of stayed for another week (really wanted to!), what a great place to stay. The views are breath taking and made even better viewing them from the hot-tub! Very comfortable and spacious house with everything we needed, even had a BBQ one night. I would highly recommend staying at Hillockhead and hope we will get the chance to return next year. We all had a very relaxing enjoyable week that will be remembered for a long time.
We spent a lot of time viewing the dolphins at Chanonry point which is a must.
I managed to get some photos which can be seen here if interested....
Thanks again for a brilliant stay :)
Wow what a location to relax and unwind, we stayed in the juniper cottage and it is a lovely very well equipped and clean chalet that will easily sleep 5, the view when you wake up and open the curtains is simply stunning and the noise ??? what noise , there is none . Just peace and quiet, I would recommend more outside lighting as it is very dark at night and if you are going to go make sure and pack to cook as it's a hike to get supplies.
We would definitely love to go back and cannot sing this places praises highly enough

We have just returned from a blissful fortnight at Hillockhead. We stayed in Chanonry Cottage which is cosy, well-equipped and bright. The kids loved their room which took up the entire length of that part of the longhouse and gave them loads of space. Peter and Michele are excellent, friendly hosts - and their lovely dogs made friends with our springer spaniel and they spent a fair bit of time chasing each other around the grounds.
The views are spectacular, from sunset to sunrise and beyond. I particularly enjoyed the light in the early morning. As we left, we stood in bright sunshine as a mist draped itself over the centre of the Firth, obscuring bits of Chanonry Point and Fort George. It was quite other-worldly and wonderful to watch.
We saw the occasional dolphin from the cottage, too, and enjoyed watching boats make their way up the firth. We also gasped in amazement as, under cover of darkness, helicopters skimmed the waters of the Firth and veered impertinently close to the lighthouse at Chanonry Point before rising up into the sky and disappearing.
We got up at 5am one morning so that my husband could take some wonderful photos of the sunrise from the top of Brown Hill.
Its proximity to my favourite place in the world, Rosemarkie Beach, makes this a fantastic holiday destination. It's not just a base - it's a place where you can actually enjoy sitting out and watching the world go by. We will definitely be back.

We have just returned from our fourth holiday at Hillockhead, staying in The Stables Cottage. Once again Michele and Peter have provided a wonderful base for exploring and enjoying The Black Isle and beyond. The cottage is clean, cosy, comfortable, well equipped and enjoys stunning views. As soon as we open the door, we feel "at home."
Everything you need is provided and Michele or Pete are always there if you need help or advice. They are a lovely couple and work exceptionally hard to ensure all the accomodation is prepared to a very high standard. They also provide thoughtful little extras which are personalised to repeat customers.
If you want a 5* luxury hotel this is not for you. BUT, if you want accomodation with charm, stunning views, friendly but not intrusive owners, AND dog friendly, then I have no hesitation in saying..JUST GO😊
We are just about to book for next year and can't wait to be back at Hillockhead.

Just spent three days at cottage.weather and view fantastic. Great girls weekend. Found two restaurants near by with amazing food couldn't fault our weekend. Highly recommend. Janie X thanks x
We stayed at Dolphin Cottage for a week in August 2015 and it was a fantastic base for our family holiday. It was lovely to sit on the balcony early morning with a cup of tea and on a night time with a beer and chill out looking at the beautiful view over the Firth. Cottage was really homely and it was fantastic to be able to take Tess our Border Collie with us instead of leaving her at home. The 141 steps down to the beach and the return trip was an adventure in itself but not for the faint hearted. Loved being able to get to Chanonry Point quickly to watch out for the dolphins (saw them on two occasions). Took the dog with us to Anderson's in Rosemarkie and had a lovely meal (dog was welcome in the bar). Excellent selection of bottled beer and so many single malt whiskies that you had to choose from a catalogue. Also had a a nice meal at Crofters Bistro in Fortrose and again the dog was allowed into the gardens whilst we ate. Enjoyed staying in Dolphin Cottage so much that we are planning a return in October and a return visit in August 2016. Lovely place to stay.
We stayed in Swallow Cottage during the first week in August. The cottage was perfect as was the location and we were lucky enough to see the dolphins twice at Chanonry Point. The views from the cottage were spectacular, we also took our dog with us and she had a great time meeting the other guests. Would highly recommend staying here and I am sure we will be back!
Had a brilliant week staying in Chanonry cottage. Very clean and comfortable and the views are amazing. Saw dolphins everyday, mostly from Chanonry point but also near the Kessock bridge. We also saw Stags with huge antlers in Glen Affric. We can definitely recommend HIllockhead as a base and hope to return soon.
After having fond memories of staying at Hillockhead when I was younger, I knew I would have to come back one day! Thank you for such a wonderful stay - Swallow cottage was comfortable and homely, and the views were stunning. It was a great base to explore the local area and a bit further afield to the Cairngorms. We wouldn't hesitate to come back again!
We had such a good holiday in Dolphin cottage last October that we booked the Farmhouse for a family get-together in July. Just back from a perfect week there: the setting is idyllic; the house large, light and airy, and very comfortable with lots of personal touches to make it feel 'homely'. The views were as stunning as everyone says; you could smell the fresh air and the weather was kind to us - it rained mostly at night. The hot tub was a real bonus and for some of us a novelty - now no other will compare. There was lots to do in the surrounding area, to suit all tastes - the only problem was dragging ourselves away from the house and view each day! Sadly no dolphins so we will have to come back ... Thank you Michele and Peter xx
Just spent a second christmas at Hillockhead - this time in Dolphin and Pines. Brilliant again - great communal space in Dolphin for a big family - easily accommodated 7 for meals - including christmas dinner. Great area and accommodation - perfect for larger families. Will definitely be back.
Just a quick line to say we had a great stay mid September. Swallow cottage was very comfortable and homely. Once the mist had cleared the views were wonderful.
This was our first visit to Scotland and hopefully won't be our last. So should we find ourselves back in your neck of the woods wouldn't hesitate in returning, or recommending to others.
Hope all goes well with the arrival of your first grandchild, it was actually quite nice to get back to see ours and give them a cuddle!

We just got home from a lovely weekend at Dolphin Lodge. Really appreciated the effort that had gone into making the cottage homely and comfortable. It was great to have the kitchen stocked with some basics!
We loved the view from the balcony, and the kids enjoyed the rec room! We hope to be back soon!
Spent a fantastic week in The Stables cottage in Aug. Our second time at Hillockhead . The cottage is warm, cosy, comfortable and extremely well equipped. Views from the windows are stunning. The weather wasn't great but we found lots to do AND the 🐬🐬🐬 were BRILLIANT. Such a good holiday we have booked again for next year. Peter and Michele are wonderful hosts and have created a wee haven of peace and tranquility in a beautiful place. Can't recommend it enough.

Thanks for a great stay, a wonderful location and perfect for a break in the Highlands. Dolphin watching now ticked off on my bucket list. Why isn't there a trip advisor entry for you?
Just home after our second visit to Hillockhead, we stayed in Dolphin cottage again.....a wonderful location, Michele and Peter have thought of everything to make it a home from home! The balcony from the living room is a wonderful spot to chill out and the scenery is truly breathtaking. Even this being our second year at Hillockhead we still found plenty to do and see on the Black Isle and surrounding area. We live in Aberdeen and although not a long way to go for a holiday we always feel that we are a million miles away...the peace and tranquility is a true tonic. Well done to Peter and Michele for sharing this stunning piece of Scotland.
My family and I stayed in the farmhouse in April 2014 and couldn't have been made more welcome! The house is lovely and the hot tub and summer house a bonus! The views are stunning and would absolutely recommend it. Thanks Peter and Michele. The Ansell, Eaton and Wooffindin family x
We stayed for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary from 22nd March 2014, staying in Chanonry where we had our intimate wedding buffet 3 years ago. As always nothing was too much trouble for Michele & Peter, and as always we had a wonderful relaxing time and yet again saw the Dolphins, I think this was our 5th visit and needless to say we will be back again especially as our 10 hour drive from Worcester has been decreased to 1.5 hrs from Lochcarron.
We stayed at Hillockhead in mid March for one week at the Farmhouse and it was quite wonderful. We received a friendly welcome, the accommodation was spacious and thoughtfully furnished (Sky+ was a massive bonus) and whiling away the evenings in the hot tub after having watched the dolphins play in view of the cottage was an experience never to be forgotten. We don't usually go back anywhere, we will be back to the Farmhouse...
This summer will be our 9th holiday at Hillockhead and if that isn't recommendation enough then a combination of excellent accommodation, great hosts, beautiful countryside and the wonderful dolphins should convince you to come and see for yourself. Always a fantastic holiday.
We stayed at Hillock Head for the February school holidays, and had the most wonderful week. We really enjoyed the walks on the beach, and the views across the Moray Firth. The kids loved soaking in the hot tub under the stars. We also had some spectacular day trips up across the Black Isle, to the Cairngorms, and up to Dunrobin Castle. Michele and Peter were kind and wonderful hosts, and we will most certainly be back again. Thanks for everything - Richard Susan, Andrew, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Timothy Button !!
We stayed for a week in July in Swallow cottage and had a marvellous holiday. The accommodation was very modern and clean with excellent facilities. The views over the Moray Firth are spectacular. The dolphins were very active and regularly put on a spectacular show and we found loads of interesting places to visit in the area. We would highly recommend Hillockhead and have booked again for 2014.
We stayed in the farmhouse over Christmas for a lovely family get together. In beautiful , peaceful surroundings this was perfect for our family - plenty of room ( and bathrooms) for everyone. Ideally situated for easy access to inverness / Black Isle - but we chose to bunker down for the duration and enjoy the stunning immediate area. The farmhouse was clean and well presented and Michele and Pete were very welcoming. Highly recommended.
